The Story: Originating from Lebanon, the Morcos family originally planted their vines in the 1930’s and third generation Matias Marcos makes Luna Duna at the family winery as his own project. The vines are located in Eastern Mendoza in the subregion of Alto Verde, San Martin. Some of Mendoza’s oldest vines come from the East, an area that is often overlooked. The vines are farmed with no pesticides and fermentation is natural. The Morcos family sell a lot of fruit and also make some bulk wine. Mati is in his mid twenties and studied with Manu Michelini, another Argentine organic winemaker and vigneron. Mati is much more of a wine nerd and got inspired to make small production wines mostly from his family’s criolla vines. He’s sharp and motivated and this is the first time his wines are in our market.
Personality: A light amber color with an aromatically rich nose round and lush like sliced fresh apples slightly drizzled in honey and dredged in sea salt, with a fresh mineral finish. Surprisingly delicious!
Harmony: A psychedelic dance party under the full moon? 1 Liter format should keep you going, if not til dawn, a good long jive.
